The Three Legacies of Alcoholics Anonymous are
Recovery, Unity, and Service.
These legacies have been passed down to us from the cofounders and old timers of A.A.

• Recovery is contained in the Big Book and Twelve Steps.
• Unity is contained in the Twelve Traditions.
• Service is contained in every act which helps A.A. function or which carries the A.A. message to those who need it.

The Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous
Guide our actions in recovery as individuals.

1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol – that our lives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

1. Am admis că eram neputincioşi în faţa alcoolului – că nu mai eram stăpâni pe viaţa noastră.
2. Am ajuns la credinţa că o Putere superioară nouă înşine ne-ar putea reda sănătatea mintală.
3. Am hotărât să ne lăsăm voinţa în grija unui Dumnezeu - aşa cum şi-L închipuie fiecare dintre noi.
4. Am făcut, fără teamă, un inventar moral amănunţit al propriei persoane.
5. Am mărturisit lui Dumnezeu, nouă înşine şi altei fiinţe umane, natura exactă a greşelilor noastre.
6. Am consimţit fără rezerve, ca Dumnezeu să ne scape de toate aceste defecte de caracter.
7. Cu umilinţă, I-am cerut să ne îndepărteze defectele.
8. Am întocmit o listă cu toate persoanele cărora le-am făcut necazuri şi am consimţit să reparăm aceste rele.
9. Ne-am reparat greşelile direct faţă de acele persoane, acolo unde a fost cu putinţă, dar nu şi atunci când le-am fi putut face vreun rău lor sau altora.
10. Ne-am continuat inventarul personal si ne-am recunoscut greşelile, de îndată ce ne-am dat seama de ele.
11. Am căutat, prin rugăciune şi meditaţie, să ne întărim contactul conştient cu Dumnezeu – aşa cum şi-L închipuia fiecare dintre noi, cerându-i doar să ne arate voia Lui în ce ne priveşte şi să ne dea puterea să o împlinim.
12. După ce am trăit o trezire spirituală ca rezultat al acestor paşi, am încercat să transmitem acest mesaj altor alcoolici şi să punem în aplicare aceste principii în toate domeniile vieţii noastre

The Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous
Guide our actions as a group.

1. Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon A.A. unity.
2. For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority – a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern.
3. The only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking.
4. Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or A.A. as a whole.
5. Each group has but one primary purpose-to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers.
6. An A.A. group ought never endorse, finance or lend the A.A. name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.
7. Every A.A. group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.
8. Alcoholics Anonymous should remain forever nonprofessional, but our service centers may employ special workers.
9. A.A., as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.
10. Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the A.A. name ought never be drawn into public controversy.
11. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio and films.
12. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities.

CELE DOUĂSPREZECE TRADIŢII ALE ALCOOLICILOR ANONIMI
Ghidarea actiunilor noastre ca grup

1. Este necesar ca prosperitatea noastră comună să se afle pe primul loc; restabilirea personală depinde de unitatea Comunitătii AA.
2. Întru atingerea scopului nostru comun, de grup, nu există decât o autoritate fundamentală: un Dumnezeu al iubirii aşa cum se poate exprima El în conştiinţa noastră de grup.
3. Singura cerinţă pentru a deveni membru AA este dorinţa de a înceta băutul.
4. Este bine ca fiecare grup să fie autonom în toate privinţele, cu excepţia chestiunilor care afectează alte grupuri sau AA în ansamblu.
5. Nici un grup nu are alt scop primordial unic decât sa transmită mesajul sau alcoolicului care mai suferă.
6. Este foarte necesar ca nici un grup AA să nu sprijine, să nu finanţeze şi să nu intituleze ca AA nici un alt organism, înrudit sau nu cu Alcoolicii Anonimi, ca nu cumva problemele de bani, proprietate sau prestigiu să ne distragă de la obiectivul nostru primordial.
7. Este bine ca fiecare grup AA să se autofinanţeze după nevoi şi să refuze contribuţii din afară.
8. Este important ca Alcoolicii Anonimi să rămână mereu neprofesionişti, dar centrele noastre de servicii pot angaja personal calificat.
9. Este bine ca AA, ca şi comunitate, să nu aibă o organizare strictă vreodată, dar putem constitui consilii sau comitete de servicii direct responsabile faţă de cei în slujba cărora se află.
10. Comunitatea AA nu exprimă nici o opinie referitoare la vreun subiect exterior; este foarte important ca numele AA să nu fie amestecat niciodată în controverse publice.
11. Politica noastră de relaţii publice se bazează mai degrabă pe atragere decât pe reclamă; ne este întotdeauna necesară păstrarea anonimatului personal la nivel de presă, radio, film, TV.
12. Anonimatul este baza spirituală a tuturor tradiţiilor noastre şi ne reaminteşte neîncetat să plasăm principiile deasupra personalitaţilor.

The Twelve Concepts for World Service
Guide our actions as an assembly in service.

1. The final responsibility and the ultimate authority for A.A. World services should always reside in the collective conscience of our whole Fellowship.
2. When, in 1955, the A.A. groups confirmed the permanent charter for their General Service Conference, they thereby delegated to the Conference complete authority for the active maintenance of our world services and thereby made the Conference-excepting for any change in the Twelve Traditions or in Article 12 of the Conference Charter-the actual voice and the effective conscience for our whole Society.
3. As a traditional means of creating and maintaining a clearly defined working relation between the groups, the Conference, the A.A. General Service Board and its several service corporations, staffs, committees, and executives, and of thus insuring their effective leadership, it is here suggested that we endow each of these elements of world service with a traditional “Right of Decision.”
4. Throughout our Conference structure, we ought to maintain at all responsible levels a traditional “Right of Participation, ” taking care that each classification or group of our world servants shall be allowed a voting representation in reasonable proportion to the responsibility that each must discharge.
5. Throughout our world service structure, a traditional “Right of Appeal” ought to prevail, thus assuring us that minority opinion will be heard and that petitions for the redress of personal grievances will be carefully considered.
6. On behalf of A.A. as a whole, our General Service Conference has the principal responsibility for the maintenance of our world services, and it traditionally has the final decision respecting large matters of general policy and finance. But the Conference also recognizes that the chief initiative and the active responsibility in most of these matters should be exercised primarily by the trustee members of the Conference when they act among themselves as the General Service Board of Alcoholics Anonymous.
7. The Conference recognizes that the Charter and the Bylaws of the General Service Board are legal instruments: that the trustees are thereby fully empowered to manage and conduct all of the world service affairs of Alcoholics Anonymous.
8. The trustees of the General Service Board act in two primary capacities: (a)With respect to the larger matters of over-all policy and finance, they and their primary committee directly manage these affairs. (B)But with respect to our separately incorporated and constantly active services, the relation of the trustees is mainly that of full stock ownership and of custodial oversight which they exercise through their ability to elect all directors of these entities.
9. Good service leaders, together with sound and appropriate methods of choosing them, are at all levels indispensable for our future functioning and safety. The primary world service leadership once exercised by the founders of A.A. must necessarily be assumed by the trustees of the General Service Board of Alcoholics Anonymous.
10. Every service responsibility should be matched by an equal service authority-the scope of such authority to be always well defined whether by tradition, by resolution, by specific job description, or by appropriate charters and bylaws.
11. While the trustees hold final responsibility for A.A.’s world service administration, they should always have the assurance of the best possible standing committees, corporate service directors, executives , staffs, and consultants. Therefore, the composition of these underlying committees and service boards, the personal qualifications of their members, the manner of their induction into service, the systems of their rotation, the way in which they are related to each other, the special rights and duties of their executives, staffs, and consultants, together with a proper basis for the financial compensation of these special workers, will always be matters for serious care and concern.
12. General Warranties of the Conference: In all the proceedings, the General Service Conference shall observe the spirit of the A.A. Tradition, taking great care that the Conference never becomes the seat of perilous wealth or power; that sufficient operating funds plus an ample reserve , be its prudent financial principle; that none of the Conference members shall ever be placed in a position of unqualified authority over any of the others; that all important decisions be reached by discussion, vote, and whenever possible, by substantial unanimity; that no Conference action ever be personally punitive or an incitement to public controversy; that, though the Conference may act for the service of Alcoholics Anonymous, it shall never perform any acts of government; and that, like the Society of Alcoholics Anonymous which it serves, the Conference itself will always remain democratic in thought and action.

CONCEPTUL 1.

Responsabilitatea finală şi autoritatea supremă ale Serviciilor Mondiale ale Alcoolicilor Anonimi trebuie să rezulte totdeauna din conştiinţa colectivă a asociaţie noastre în întregul ei.

CONCEPTUL 2.

Grupurile A.A. au confirmat în 1955, Statutul Permanent al  Conferinţei de Servicii Generale, acesteia fiindu-i delegată autoritatea deplină şi totală pentru menţinerea activă a serviciilor mondiale, făcând

astfel din Conferinţă, vocea reală şi conştiinţa efectivă a asociaţiei noastre în întregul ei, exceptând oricare dintre cele 12 Tradiţii şi articolul 12 din statut.

CONCEPTUL 3.

Pentru a crea şi menţine, prin tradiţie, raporturi clar definite între grupurile şi Conferinţă, Consiliul de Servicii Generale cu diversele lor Societăţi de Servicii, Comitetele şi Directorii lor, este sugerat ca fiecare

din aceste elemente ale serviciilor mondiale să fie dotat cu un “Drept de decizie”, tradiţional, astfel asigurându-se eficacitatea liderilor.

CONCEPTUL 4.

Va trebui ca în cadrul structurii Conferinţei, la toate nivelele de responsabilitate, să se menţină un “Drept de participare” tradiţional, astfel ca fiecărui grup sau categorie, prin servitorii mondiali să i se acorde o reprezentare corespunzătoare, prin vot, care să corespundă rezonabil responsabilităţilor asumate.

CONCEPTUL 5.

În orice structură a serviciilor noastre trebuie un”Drept de apel” care să ne asigure că opinia minoritară va fi ascultată şi că petiţiile de remediare a prejudiciilor personale sunt luate în considerare cu toată atenţia necesară.

CONCEPTUL 6.

Conferinţa de Servicii Generale, în numele A.A. ca ansamblu, are ca principală responsabilitate să vegheze la supravieţuirea serviciilor noastre generale şi prin tradiţie, deţine decizia finală în marile probleme de orientare generală şi de finanţe.

Pe de altă parte, Conferinţa recunoaşte că iniţiativa principală si resposabilitatea activă, în cea mai mare parte a chestiunilor trebuie să aparţină administratorilor, membri ai Conferinţei, când aceştia se

întrunesc pentru a forma Consiliul de Servicii Generale AA.

CONCEPTUL 7.

Conferinţa recunoaşte că statutul şi reglementările Consiliului de Servicii Generale sunt instrumente legale dând puteri depline administratorilor pentru a gira şi dirija afacerile Serviciilor Generale AA.

Pe de altă parte este subînţeles că statutul Conferinţei nu este în sine un document legal şi că el depinde mai mult de forţa tradiţiei şi de capacitatea financiară a A.A.-lui pentru a fi efectiv eficace.

CONCEPTUL 8.

Administratorii Consiliului de Servicii Generale au de îndeplinit două funcţii fundamentale şi anume:

a) în privinţa problemelor de orientare generală şi finanţe ei sunt resposabilii principali pentru activităţile de planificare şi administrare a fondurilor, sarcină pe care o execută personal împreună cu comitetele lor principale;

b) iar pentru serviciile societăţii noastre distincte şi constant active, sunt gardieni de drepturi depline, exersând supravegherea acestora, prin dreptul de a numi orice funcţionar în acest scop.

CONCEPTUL 9.

Şefi competenţi, ca şi metodele adaptate şi corecte de a-i alege,sunt indinspensabile la toate nivele pentru funcţionarea noastră viitoare în siguraţă.

Este necesar ca orientarea fundamentală a serviciilor mondiale, asigurată dintr-un început de fondatorii A.A., să fie asumată acum de administratorii Consiliului de Servicii Generale A.A.

CONCEPTUL 10.

Fiecărei responsabilităţi de serviciu trebuie să-i corespundă o autoritate echivalentă, care este necesar să fie bine definită, fie prin tradiţie, fie printr-o rezoluţie, fie printr-un caiet de sarcini precise şi clare sau prin statut şi reglementări precise.

CONCEPTUL 11.

Administratorii care au responsabilitatea finală privind gestiunea serviciilor mondiale A.A. trebuie să fie asistaţi totdeauna de comitete permanente, directori, cadre, funcţionari şi consilieri dintre cei mai competenţi.

Este deci foarte important să se dea cea mai mare atenţie competenţei acestor comitete de bază şi consilii de servicii, privind în special competenţa membrilor acestora şi modul de selecţie al lor, la fel de

important fiind a se stabili corect şi precis rotaţia între şi între relaţiile care trebuie să-i unească, să se precizeze drepturile şi îndatoririle particulare ale cadrelor, membrilor personalului şi consilierilor şi să se stabilească pe baze adecvate criteriile corecte de remunerare pentru aceşti funcţionari calificaţi.

CONCEPTUL 12.

În toate deliberările sale, Conferinţa de Servicii Generale va respecta, în spiritul tradiţiilor, cele şase Garanţii fundamentale ce urmează:

a) va avea grijă să nu devină vreodată sediul unei prea mari concentrări de putere şi bogăţie;

b) va avea prin administrare corectă prudenţa de a asigura un fond de rulment şi o rezervă prudentă;

c) nici unul din membri săi nu trebuie să se afle în poziţie de autoritate faţă de altul;

d) va lua toate deciziile importante după discuţii şi vot, căutându-se cea mai mare majoritate de câte ori acesta va fi posibilă;

e) nu va lua niciodată măsuri punitive personale şi nu va face nici un gest care să genereze controverse publice;

f) nu va elabora niciodată acte de guvernare, mai ales că se află în serviciul A.A., va reprezenta totdeuna imaginea asociaţiei pe care o deserveşte, democratic în gând şi acţiune.

A.A.'s Three Legacies

Recovery

First presented in 1939 with the publishing of the book Alcoholics Anonymous, A.A.'s widely recognized Twelve Steps reflect the principles by which the co-founders and early members recovered from alcoholism. The Steps remain the foundation recovery principles of the Fellowship to this day. In addition to many chapters in the first part of the book Alcoholics Anonymous on the Steps, Bill W. wrote a series of essays on the Steps which appear in the book Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. Known informally as the "Twelve and Twelve," the forward to the book reads, "A.A.'s Twelve Steps are a group of principles, spiritual in their nature, which, if practiced as a way of life, can expel the obsession to drink and enable the suffered to become happily and usefully whole." *

Unity

A.A.'s Twelve Traditions present the principles which support the unity of the A.A. Fellowship at its group level. The Traditions were first presented in a series of articles by co-founder Bill W. in the late 1940's, which appeared in The A.A. Grapevine, A.A.'s periodical newsletter. The essays are collected in the book Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. From the Forward to the book: "A.A.'s Twelve Traditions apply to the life of the Fellowship itself. They outline the means by which A.A. maintains its unity and relates to the world about it, the way it lives and grows." *

Service

Concerning service, A.A. co-founder Bill W. wrote in 1951:

Our Twelfth Step — carrying the message — is the basic service that the A.A. Fellowship gives; this is our principal aim and the main reason for our existence. Therefore, A.A. is more than a set of principles; it is a society of alcoholics in action. We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither, and those who haven't been given the truth may die.

AA’S THREE LEGACIES

The founders of Alcoholics Anonymous have given to each of us three great Legacies: Recovery, Unity, and Service.

Our First Legacy, Recovery, has given us a second chance to find happiness and freedom; to live useful and productive lives.
Our Second Legacy, Unity, has provided us with a fellowship made up of people who share our own common problem; who give us the love and support necessary to maintain our sobriety.
Our Third Legacy, Service offers us the opportunity to implement our primary goal “to carry the message to the alcoholic who still suffers”.
Most important – it is a proven fact – that those who participate in service have a significantly better chance of remaining sober, than those who do not.

Fondatorii Alcoolicilor Anonimi au dat fiecaruia dintre noi trei mari moșteniri:

Recuperare, Unitate, și Serviciu.

Prima noastra mostenire, Recuperarea, ne-a oferit o doua sansa de a gasi fericirea și libertatea; să traim o viata utila si eficienta.

A doua noastra mostenire, Unitatea, ne-a oferit o comunitate formată din oameni care împărtășesc propria noastră problemă comună; care ne da dragostea și sprijinul necesar pentru a ne menține abstinenta.

A treia noastra mostenire, Serviciul, ne oferă posibilitatea de a pune în aplicare obiectivul nostru principal "de a transmite mesajul alcoolicului care inca mai sufera".

Cel mai important lucru - fapt dovedit - este că cei care participă la serviciu au o sansa semnificativ mai mare de a rămâne abstinenti, decât cei care nu o fac.
